THE MEDIA SCHOOL

As a South African media company, TEAMtalk media has a responsibility to contribute to the training of top-class journalists and media professionals who will enter the job market in the near future. Since 2006, TEAMtalk media has teamed up with a local programme, The Media School, to open pathways for teenagers wishing to enter the media industry.

The Media School is a student-run, volunteer organisation based at the University of Cape Town. It operates in four disadvantaged high schools in Philippi, one of Cape Town’s most populous informal settlements.

The mission of The Media School is to help underprivileged learners develop both their analytical and creative abilities, to improve their written and verbal English language, and to empower them with a sense of self-worth and the necessary skills through a comprehensive skills-sharing programme.
